Old-school party store Halloween shopping

A couple of years ago, Matt of Dinosaur Dracula video blogged about his experiences shopping at a placed called Party Fair, an old-school style party supply store which still had the look & feel of 90s-era shops, complete with older, 80s/90s merchandise still in stock.

Matt offered his fans a challenge to find an old-school store like this & explore it for Halloween and novelty stuff. I just watched the above video a couple of days ago, so I didn't know about the challenge then, but I went to a shop of this nature last year, a local WA-state chain called Party @ Display & Costume. We shopped at the main store is in Seattle.

This place is the real deal. They had a HUGE selection of everything you could want for Halloween, although perhaps not as many animatronics as Spirit Halloween or Party City.

They had Halloween/horror-themed clothing and costumes of all sorts, masks, wigs, and accessories & materials for putting together your own unique ensembles, including bolts of fabric and an extensive selection of professional costume makeup. The quality factor is a bit higher here than big box stores.

There was a ton of great Halloween decor, balloons, props, party stuff, craft supplies, glow-in-the-dark/UV reacting items, lighting, candy, and other random doodads, both indoor & outdoor. It was glorious. I felt like a kid at Disneyland.

This friendly guy followed shoppers around the store.

Whatever theme or style you wish for your Halloween celebrations, they had it. If I could only shop at one Halloween store per season, this would be it. It was a nice discovery, especially after feeling disappointed at Spirit Halloween's selection that year (I'm 100% over stores being overwhelmingly full of licensed movie & TV characters, but that's a rant for another time).

Sadly, I have heard that their main location in Seattle is closing, but I'm not sure if this is merely a rumor. I messaged them via their Facebook page to inquire, but haven't get gotten a reply. Their active FB page shows them putting out Halloween stuff now, so I'm going to have to make it a point to get out there at least one more time.
